Velika Gospa

Croatians around the world celebrate “Velika Gospa,” the August 15th feast of the Assumption of Our Blessed Mother, with a traditional Lamb Dinner.  In 2013 The Slavonian American Benevolent Society of Tacoma held their celebration on Sunday August 11th.  This event served as the “draw” to bring our favorite Croatians – and honorary Croatians – to visit us on Fox Island this year.  My mom, Martha Dzaich McDaniel, and my uncle and aunt, Matto and Betty Dzaich, spent a wonderful week with us, enjoying spectacular weather and wonderful food.  Click on the photos, then the right arrows, to see all our memories.

  1. I guess I put my comment in the wrong place. I’ve only seen the yearly growth pictures of the dream project. Mike, did you ever dream you had this much talent within you? It blows me away. I was able to spent several hours just trying to take the beauty all in. So much change since I last saw it. I can’t even think of what is next. The front patio will add another great site to view the garden.

  2. Fabulous pics of Fabulous People! I love you guys! Hey,
Why are Pinkie and Jim’s gourd portaits included? I guess Jim IS 1/2 Croatian..

  3. I realized they were in there after I posted the photos, must have grabbed the date range without noticing. At least they look like happy Croatians anyway 🙂
